Thirty-nine community organisations across the Mornington Peninsula are celebrating after securing $66,665 through the 2025-26 Volunteer Grants Program.
Federal Member for Flinders Zoe McKenzie MP has welcomed the announcement, with every local application championed by her office approved for funding.
The grants recognise the contribution of local Peninsula volunteers, with 20,886 Mornington Peninsula residents volunteering through an organisation or community group, according to the 2021 ABS Census. That’s 14.8 per cent of residents aged 15 and over, compared to the Victorian average of 13.3 per cent.
“Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Mornington Peninsula, and I’m absolutely delighted that all 39 local organisations have secured funding to keep up their work,” Ms McKenzie said.
“From fighting fires and saving lives to coaching junior sport and protecting our beautiful environment, our volunteers give so much to our community.”
Successful recipients include the Mornington Police Senior Community Register ($2,451), Mornington Peninsula Koala Conservation ($2,000), Disabled Surfers Association Mornington Peninsula ($2,000), Willum Warrain ($2,000), and French Island Community Association ($2,000).
Local CFA brigades in Tyabb, Rosebud, Boneo and Crib Point have also secured funding, alongside Mornington Life Saving Club, Dromana Bay Life Saving Club, Point Leo Surf Life Saving Club, Peninsula Surfriders Club, and sporting clubs in Somerville, Sorrento, Rye, Mornington and Rosebud.
Other recipients include Clothes4U, Friends of Coolart, Friends of Flinders Coastline, Nepean Peninsula Landcare, Mount Eliza Neighbourhood House, Capel Sound Community Hub, 1st Red Hill Scouts, 2nd Mornington Sea Scouts, Girl Guides Victoria, Peninsula Music Society and local historical societies.
“These might be small grants, but they make a big difference to grassroots organisations working hard to support our community. To every volunteer across the Peninsula, thank you.”
