Zoe McKenzie was elected as the Member for Flinders on 21 May 2022, and reelected on 3 May 2025. Following the 2025 federal election, Zoe was appointed the Shadow Assistant Minister for Education and Early Learning, and Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health.
Prior to entering Parliament, Zoe ran a small business in international trade, and served as a board director on the NBN, Australia Council for the Arts and the Committee for the Mornington Peninsula, as well as a number of trade related advisory boards concerning trade between Australia and Europe. Zoe speaks French, German and some Spanish.
Zoe has worked as an industrial relations lawyer and policy adviser across trade, tourism, telecommunications, education, culture and the law at both Federal and State levels.
The Mornington Peninsula is well known for its excellence in tourism and agriculture. It is a thriving small business location. Zoe’s private sector skills in workplace law, trade and tourism are essential to the success of the small business sector.
In her first term of Parliament, Zoe served on policy committees relating to Education and Training, Telecommunications and the Arts, and the Environment and Climate Change. She also served on the Social Media committee which heralded a ban for under 16s on designated platforms, and the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security with responsibility for assessing Australia’s security and terrorism laws and expenditure, and oversight of the National Intelligence Community.
When she’s not working, Zoe enjoys spending time in, on or under the water as an avid scuba diver. The Peninsula’s local environment is world-class, and Zoe is passionate about protecting it for generations to come.
