An elected Liberal Government will deliver $40,000 to repair the roof of the hall so that the Scouts and other local community groups that use the hall have access to a safe and modern facility.
The 1st Somerville Scout Group calls Somerville Scout Hall their home, where they provide invaluable support and opportunities for young people in Somerville and surrounds.
The roof of Somerville Scout Hall is in desperate need of repair. Wet weather makes the Scout Hall uninhabitable for weekly Scout meetings and water damage is starting to set in.
Liberal Member for Flinders, Zoe McKenzie MP, secured this investment so the Scouts can continue to run programs for young people on the Mornington Peninsula where they can learn problem solving, social interaction and leadership skills.
“With 17,000 youth members and 5,000 adult volunteers across Victoria, the Scouts are an incredibly important part of our community, and the Mornington Peninsula’s beautiful natural environment makes it the perfect place for Scouts.”
“Somerville Scout Hall hosts weekly meetings of the Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Rovers groups and serves as an affordable venue option for community gatherings and events. Whilst the roof is in disrepair, the community is unable to make the most out of the Scout Hall,” said Ms McKenzie.
“This commitment will ensure Somerville Scout Hall can serve our community for years to come.”
Only the Liberals have a plan to invest in local infrastructure and get Australia back on track.
Ends.
