Sages Cottage, a 38-acre farm and café run by people with a disability, desperately needs funding, so it can provide more jobs and opportunities for differently abled people from across the Mornington Peninsula.
That’s why an elected Coalition Government will provide $500,000 for the development of an Inclusive Jobs Hub at Sages Cottage Farm in Baxter. The Inclusive Jobs Hub will allow for Sages Cottage to expand its workforce and increase visitor capacity.
80 special needs young adults currently operate the farm and cottage, under the guidance of coaches with experience in hospitality and horticulture.
The facility, operated by not-for-profit disability support group Wallara Australia, welcomes over 50,000 visitors each year.
At both the 2022 State and Federal election, the Coalition committed to funding the Inclusive Jobs Hub at Sages Cottage. The Albanese Government has left this project without government funding, forcing Sages Cottage to rely on the generosity of the general public in a cost-of-living crisis.
Federal Member for Flinders, Zoe McKenzie MP, commented that “Sages Cottage gives participants vital life and professional skills.”
“I’ve seen the amazing impact this organisation has on participants and their families through transformative therapy and skills training for life and the workplace.”
“Labor at a State and Federal level has failed to match the Coalition in committing to support for this fantastic facility.”
Ends.
